Yesterday completely got away from me! At work from 7:30am to nearly 6pm and there was just no time! I did get a workout in though, yay!
1. It’s a holiday weekend! Any fun plans? I’m all about BBQing some burgers this weekend. Mmmmmm. Maybe some chips and dip. Double mmmmm. I think I’m going to go full force.
2. I’m going to be in Disneyland in just over a week!
Do any of you use Ride Max to plan your Disney trips? This $14.99 software is an absolute must have! The first time we used it we zipped around the park and got on all the rides we wanted in just a few hours. I’m going to use it this weekend to plan our trip.
3. I suck at challenges. Remember the burpee a day challenge? Yeah, that died after like day three. I have zero ability to commit to those sorts of things. Oh well I’m over it.
4. Last night I checked out the San Pedro Square Market in Downtown San Jose.
A pretty cool concept, housed in the oldest building in San Jose with a lot of the original brick, inside it’s all open with tons of food choices and a bar. Last night there was a jazz trio playing and there’s also a nice outdoor patio.
The food we had was just ehhh. That margarita pizza is really lacking in fresh toppings. But I’m open to going back and trying something different.
5. I miss reading blogs! There are so many I like to follow and I just have zero zero time.
Have a great Saturday!!
Dinner tonight was a bunch of leftovers plus couscous. This stuff cooks so fast I don’t know why I don’t make it more.
Five minutes and it’s done.
That’s my kind of cooking.
Grilled fish + roasted veggies + couscous. Then I doused it all with hot sauce.
Another thing I don’t know why I don’t use it more. It makes bland health food so much livelier!
Tomorrow’s Friday! Night all!
Tonight I was craving oooey gooey cheesy comfort food. After downing half a glass of wine while finishing up work emails, inspiration struck: veggie quesadillas.
100% whole wheat tortillas from Whole Foods, left over roasted veggies from last night’s dinner, and cheese. Lots of cheese. Two kinds: Cheddar and Mozzarella.
Mmmmm. These were life changing and so easy!
I see more of these in my future.
Hello! Can I tell you right off the bat that I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday? I’m already realllly looking forward to that three day weekend coming up.
So…..often when I sit down to write a post I already know what I want to say. I usually have an idea of how it’s going to go and what the title will be. Today I have no idea. Just sat here for five minutes staring at a blank screen. Is that writers block?
Today was just another workday and all my attention and energy is going there. I can barely notice anything else around me.At the end of the long workday I stopped into the fitness center for a workout before heading home.
Five minutes on the treadmill and my feet were immediately feeling a bit sore from the intervals I did yesterday so I moved over to the bike. Fifteen minutes to warm up on the bike while I pulled up the latest Bodyrock work on my phone.
It was nice working out at the gym with everything I needed at my fingertips. Plus I brought my gymboss so I had everything I needed and got it all done. No excuses. I was sweating and huffing and puffing for sure.
It’s a corporate fitness center, so while it’s very nicely equipped it’s not crowded with sweaty meatheads. Pretty sure though that I had someone following me around the very small space, hoping I might look over and say hi. Not at all awkward. I wanted to take an after picture and maybe even record a video log but since there were some folks in there I didn’t. Next time.
Now it’s time for some tea, some foam roller and bed. Night night.
There’s being the new girl when you’re like Bella in Forks, Washington and everyone falls at your feet the moment you walk in, and then there’s being the new girl that feels like Sam on her birthday in Sixteen Candles. It sucks. Today I was Sam, not Bella.
First full official day onsite at the new job and while the job and the work and my staff are all amazing and I love it, today the people at the client site were less than welcoming.
Oh well. I’ll make them come around.
After a stressful morning, I took a lunchtime break for treadmill intervals at the fitness center.
Five minute warm up followed by 10 intervals. 60 seconds at 6.5 followed by 30 seconds at 4.0 for 10 rounds. The exercise, sweat, widows and my country playlist brightened my mood and eased my stress almost immediately. It was pretty amazing. Thank you, Keith, Carrie, Taylor and Tim for a great workout! (Urban, Underwood, Swift, and Mcgraw in case you were wondering! )
Have a great night!
Hello! So today I have something either really cool or really dumb to share with you. I’m not sure which of those two it is yet, honestly, I’m leaning towards the latter.
My first Video Blog!
So yeah I’m a big giant dork, but as I mentioned last week, the folks over at FitFluential really think everyone should get their feet wet in video. Plus that 45 seconds of talking was a ton faster than me trying to write all about my day. And now you know how to say my name!!
Funny follow-up note, shortly after I recorded this we found out that yoga was cancelled. Boo. That left Sophie and I sitting there alone in the park with our yoga mats. Yeah, we’re super cool.
Maybe next time I’ll actually try to make a video about something interesting.
It’s 5:30am on Friday. Let’s see if I can come up with five things. Haven’t finished this cup of coffee yet.
1. If you’ve read the last few days you know I’ve discovered new workouts from Amanda Russell. Thanks Liz for finding her and sending it my way! She’s launching a five day beach body plan on Sunday that will include workouts and meal plans. I’m going to check it out and I thought you might want to too.
2. Speaking of beach bodies….can you believe it’s almost June?? Time is flying by! Soph gets out of school in less than two weeks and then we’re heading to Disneyland! I seriously can’t wait. We are back on the hunt for shoes for our trip, that’s how this Sunday is going to be spent. Here’s a picture of Sophie at Disneyland two years ago.
How cute is she?!?! This year we’re spending three days in the park, so I should be good and exhausted by the time we’re done. Tower of Terror is still up for debate. After the extreme fear I had during Space Mountain I’m really not willing to risk it. I’ll stick to It’s a Small World.
4. I bought these little date bars from Whole Foods.
Yes, I know they look like a pile of poo but they are really very delicious. I know a lot of you out there make these; tell me more. Where exactly do you buy dates? What are they like? Do you need a food processor?
5. Look at how crazy packed my fridge is!
There is only two of us living here. How is this even possible?!?!
Have a great end of your week guys! See ya Saturday.
Worked from home again today as my desk, computer, phone, basically everything isn’t quite ready yet. Working from home is awesome, except when it’s not.
I had my hair in a ponytail, no makeup and workout clothes on all day.
I had to sit in my hard kitchen chair and stare at my tiny computer screen for nine hours. Not awesome.
But I also got to take five minute jump rope and burpee stretch breaks every few hours. Totally awesome. (Day three burpee challenge, done!)
The water was turned off in my complex all day because of plumbing issues. Not awesome.
My boyfriend brought me lunch.
Easy access to the fridge and pantry all day which lead to a ton of snacking was not as awesome.
So I’d say working at home is 50% upside and 50% downside.
I did another Amanda Russell workout this evening and then made a beautiful dinner!
Honey dressed the salad for a sweet change of pace.
Tomorrow’s Friday! Any fun weekend plans out there?
I started my new job today. No big deal.
No desk or computer yet.
I did privacy training at my house in my jammie pants.
Got grilled by a colleague on my background and education.
Ended the day in a meeting with six Vice-Presidents, five lawyers and three directors.
No big deal.
Discovered new workouts on YouTube. (Thanks Liz for showing me this!)
Did my 16 Burpees.
Plus 10 minutes jump rope.
No big deal.
Brought back an old favorite for dinner.
Set my coffee timer for the morning.
Then dealt with dishwasher plumbing issues.
No big deal.
My day was nothing much. How was yours?
Hellooooo! Those of you active on twitter may have noticed a bunch of talk this week about a 30 Day Burpee Challenge. Scott, over at Your Inner Skinny (check out his transformation!!) originally kicked this challenge off for the New Year but it’s been resurrected for summer! It starts today so go check it out and do it with me! I’m starting at the advanced level with 15 burpees plus one more each day. I did 15 this morning before my shower. This might get a lot harder towards the end when it’s 40+ burpees each day but we can do it, right?
I also got in a bodyrock workout just now.
Ten minutes easy jump rope warm up, then an interval burn workout of six exercises for 50 seconds on and 10 seconds rest, two times through. Followed that up with four upper body strength intervals and four jump rope intervals. First bodyrock workout I’ve done in a while and it felt good. I’ll probably be doing a lot more when I get home too late for yoga.
Speaking of that, tomorrow is the first day on the new job. Our fridge is packed full with chopped fruits and veggies for fast and easy lunches and snacks.
